The Lebensnerv is a secondary weapon for the Medic. It's a blue/cyan colored Kritzkrieg.
Compared to the standard Medigun, its overheal decays slower and builds ÜberCharge faster, but it cannot charge its ÜberCharge past 95%, reduce the wearer's natural health regeneration and heavily reduces the healing he receives from other Medics and Dispensers.
Its ÜberCharge can be toggled on and off, and can be at any %. When on, it will drain the user's health at a rate of 15 health per second to grant its patient mini-crits. This effectively makes the Übercharge meter only useful for the Overdose and the Boil Remover.
